The Team will have the opportunity to visit its ministry projects: Ararat Orphanage School and Widow Garment Factory, sharing God’s love and hope, praying for them and giving the word of encouragement, while training 79 IFGF pastors and holding Harvest Festival to train 200 Christian leaders so they can be answers to their community. On the second day at Goma, the Team will be taken for city tour, enjoying the beauty of Nyiragongo volcano and Lake Kivu (one of African Great Lakes, lying on the border between D.R. Congo and Rwanda.
Bukavu, D.R. Congo
After ministering to most IFGF churches in Goma on Sunday, January 9th, the team will be travelling from Goma to Bukavu by sea, using a ferry and it will take around 2-3 hours to cross Lake Kivu via Idjwi Island, the 2nd largest island in Africa and 10th largest in the world. The city is located on the northern shore of Lake Tanganyika, the largest lake in Africa, and the world’s longest lake. Here, the Team will visit Youth Training Center managed by our church in Burundi under pastor Micheline Barandereka, was an executive secretary at the United Nations Development Program, who is now serve as a full timer to transform many young people’s lives in Burundi. The first outdoor crusade will be held in the late afternoon, after the Leadership Seminar and Harvest Festival.
Akagera National Park
The park is situated at a moderately low elevation on the border with Tanzania; dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of River Akagera, the most remote source of the Nile, this typical African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland speckled with open grassland.
